Favorites to Win 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship
As expected, South Carolina is the favorite to win the women’s college basketball championship after cutting down the nets last year. Staley’s Gamecocks took down Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the championship game 87-75, becoming just the 10th team in women’s Division I history to complete an undefeated season (38-0).
After winning three national titles in the last seven seasons, South Carolina is in the midst of a dynasty and will be tough to dethrone this year. The Gamecocks return 10 players from last year, including most of their key contributors.
They’ll have stiff competition, however. USC and UConn are also favorites to win the NCAA Tournament. UConn went 33-6 last year before falling in the Final Four and is a perennial powerhouse under head coach Geno Auriemma, who has guided the Huskies to a record 11 championships during her illustrious coaching career.
USC is also a top contender after going 29-6 last year and entering the tournament as a No. 1 seed. While the Trojans lost to UConn in the Elite Eight, they’ve shown tremendous growth under head coach Lindsay Gottlieb and are led by sophomore superstar JuJu Watkins.
Texas and Notre Dame round out the top five on the odds board. Texas won the Big 12 last year and went 33-5 before falling to NC State in the Elite Eight, while Notre Dame (28-7) went down to Oregon State in the Sweet 16.

Who Will Win The NCAAW Basketball Championship in 2025?
It’s hard to imagine anyone knocking off South Carolina, which understandably has the best college basketball national championship odds this year. Iowa had the best player in women’s college basketball history last year and still lost to the Gamecocks by 12 points in the National Championship Game.
On paper, South Carolina is still the best team in women’s college basketball. It’s returning most of its roster intact from last year and many of its top players now have championship experience under their belts.
Repeating isn’t easy, but if anyone can do it, it’s the Gamecocks. After winning three national titles in the last seven years, Staley has everything she needs to win another one.
Our money’s on South Carolina to win the NCAA women’s basketball championship in 2025, but it could be worth wagering on a few other schools to go all the way, especially at plus odds. While the Gamecocks are coming off one of the best seasons in NCAA history, they’ve never won back-to-back championships.
College basketball odds to win the National Championship will fluctuate throughout the season based on performance, injuries and other factors. We recommend betting early in the season before clear favorites emerge, as you’ll likely get better odds.
That said, a lot can change between now and April, and you’ll have to wait until then to receive any winnings. Accordingly, we don’t recommend tying up too much of your betting bankroll in NCAAB futures bets, which are risky and take a long time to pay out.
Pick a few teams you like at the start of the season to put some small wagers on. If one of those teams does well and looks like a legitimate championship contender, you can always double down and invest more money later in the season.
How to Bet Women’s College Basketball Futures
Betting on women’s college basketball futures is easy and is just like wagering on any other sports betting market.
To start, log into your sports betting account at your favorite sportsbook. If you don’t have one, sign up for a legal one in your state. Registration only takes a few minutes, and make sure to claim the sign-up promotion if it has one.
Once you’ve logged in and added funds to your account, navigate to the women’s college basketball section of the sportsbook. Under “Team Futures,” you’ll see a list of teams and their corresponding NCAA women’s basketball odds to win the National Championship.
Click on the team you want to wager on to add it to your bet slip. Then enter the amount of money you wish to bet and submit your wager.
Once you’ve placed your wager, you must wait until the National Championship Game ends to receive any winnings. If you change your mind or decide you want to wager that money on something else instead, you may be able to cash out your bet and forfeit any potential winnings if your sportsbook allows it.
When Can You Make a NCAAW Futures Bet?
You can make a NCAAW futures bet at any point in the season, right up until the National Championship Game.
Many sportsbooks release odds and lines before the season starts, which is a popular time to place NCAAB futures bets before the odds move.
Odds to win the NCAA Tournament will fluctuate constantly throughout the season as teams rise and fall based on their record. As the season progresses, odds typically become shorter (and thus less profitable) for contenders as frontrunners emerge.
You can still place futures bets through the NCAA Tournament, although March Madness odds will change as teams are eliminated.
The longer you wait to make a futures bet, you’ll have more information at your disposal and will have a higher chance of getting your pick correct. The trade-off is that the odds may not be as favorable as they are before the season or early in the season, when there is more uncertainty.
Accordingly, it can be wise to bet on a few teams early in the year, then either double down or pivot to other teams later in the season depending on how those wagers are looking.
