After trading for Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges over the offseason, the Knicks have assembled their most talented team in years. Their offense is deep around superstar Jalen Brunson, the defense is solid and the roster’s in good hands with two-time Coach of the Year Tom Thibodeau at the helm.

The NBA Cup is difficult to predict because anything can happen given the unique NBA Cup format.

That slow start has lowered their odds, which makes Milwaukee a good value play. Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing at an MVP level, and Damian Lillard looks more comfortable playing next to him in their second season together.

The Bucks have a championship-winning coach in Doc Rivers, and Giannis can take over a game at any time. Milwaukee’s been a disappointment this year, but don’t be surprised if it goes on a run.

This is the second year of the NBA Cup, so there’s only been one previous NBA Cup champion. That was the Los Angeles Lakers, who won the 2023 NBA Cup with a 123-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Las Vegas.

The Lakers opened the 2023-24 season with +1400 odds to win the first NBA Cup, while the Pacers were +4000 longshots. Los Angeles was favored by four points in the championship game and covered the spread easily, winning by 14.
