After an illustrious college career that saw her shatter scoring records and nearly win a National Championship at Iowa, megastar Caitlin Clark will officially enter the professional ranks on May 14.
Clark’s Indiana Fever will open their 2024 season against the Connecticut Sun in one of the most anticipated games in league history.
The No. 1 pick in April’s WNBA Draft, Clark was one of the biggest stories of the women’s NCAA Tournament. She only added to the hype with 21 points in the Fever’s preseason opener against the Atlanta Wings on May 3.
Here’s what you need to know about Clark’s WNBA debut and her rookie season, including how you can bet on Clark and the Fever at some of our recommended betting sites.
When is Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Debut?
Clark’s WNBA regular season debut will be on May 14 against the Connecticut Sun at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Along with being broadcast on ESPN2, the game will also stream on Disney+ — the first time the service has hosted a live sporting event.
Disney+ has previously streamed animated simulcasts of NFL and NHL games, but this will be new territory.
Most of the Fever’s 40 regular-season games will be broadcast on national television, so fans will have plenty of chances to watch Clark and her teammates this season.
What to Know About the Connecticut Sun
While most of the attention is on Clark and the Fever, the Sun have a solid team that should give Clark all she can handle.
Last year, the Sun went 27-13 in the regular season and finished second in the Eastern Conference. They beat the Minnesota Lynx 2-1 in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs before losing to the New York Liberty 3-1 in the semifinals.
While the Sun played most of last season without All-Star Brionna Jones (who suffered an Achilles tear in June), they got a vintage campaign from DeWanna Bonner and an MVP-caliber season from Alyssa Thomas.
The Sun’s biggest weakness in previous years has been inconsistent guard play, which explains why they signed a trio of guards — Moriah Jefferson, Tiffany Mitchell and Rachel Banham — in free agency.
The Sun enter this season with the fourth-best WNBA Championship odds (+1200) at FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Fever, on the other hand, went 13-27 last year, finishing with the third-worst record in the WNBA. They lost all four games against the Sun last season, including the last two by double digits.
