Daniel Dubois has recorded many accolades in his fighting career. Along with being the reigning IBF heavyweight world champion, he held the World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight title (regular version) from 2022 to 2023. But there’s one thing missing from his illustrious resume: a full world title.
He’ll look to check that box off his list on Sept. 21 when he takes on Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in an all-British heavyweight clash for the IBF world heavyweight title.
Not only were Dubois and Joshua born in London, but they’re represented by rival promoters Eddie Hearn (Joshua) and Frank Warren (Dubois). The two promoters linked up in May for a Queensberry versus Matchroom 5v5 card headlined by Deontay Wilder versus Zhilei Zhang.
A former two-time unified champion, Joshua, 34, has previously held the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization titles.

While Dubois was recently upgraded to world champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt, he’s still the underdog in this fight against Joshua. Joshua, one of the best heavyweight fighters in modern memory, can regain the title with a win, and has shook off consecutive losses to Usyk with wins over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
Usyk is also a key player in Joshua’s boxing journey, as he defeated Dubois last year in nine rounds in a fight for the unified world title. Dubois and his camp still believe that he beat Usyk in their fight with a punch that knocked him down, but the judges ruled the punch a low blow.

Like Joshua, Dubois rebounded to record wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgović in his last two fights. That said, Dubois seems to be embracing the underdog role.
“I’m the underdog because I have to prove myself and beating him and winning this next fight will set me as a legit champion,” he told Sky Sports News. “I’m raring to go. This is everything. The big opportunity.”
Joshua is the more experienced fighter (he has a 28-3 record with 25 knockouts compared to Dubois’ 21-2 record with 20 knockouts) but Dubois is arguably just as powerful of a fighter as Joshua.
Joshua also has 12 world title fights under his belt, so he has a little more experience fighting when the lights are the brightest.
How to Bet on Dubois vs. Joshua
The simplest bet to make for this fight is on the moneyline. This is a wager on which fighter will win, regardless of the method of victory or length of the fight.
As mentioned above, Joshua is a massive -550 favorite on the moneyline at DraftKings, which means you’d have to wager $550 to win $100. Madrimov is a +370 underdog, so you’d profit $370 if your $100 bet on him cashes.
As of Aug. 20, 89% of moneyline wagers at DraftKings are on Joshua.
Another straightforward bet is the Over/Under on the total number of rounds the fight will last. The line is set at 7.5 rounds, with the Over slightly juiced to -125 and the Under at -110. Based on those odds, this is expected to be a shorter fight between these two sluggers that could end with an early knockout.
As noted above, the oddsmakers are riding with Joshua, as he’s a clear -550 favorite to win. That means that you’d need to bet $550 on Joshua to win $100.
You can also bet on the method of victory as a prop bet. The oddsmakers also think that Joshua’s going to win because of his power and punching, as he’s at -230 to win via KO/TKO, which is the lowest method of victory odds. Joshua to win by points or decision is at +600 to win, which has the second-shortest odds.
Dubois is at +700 to win by KO/TKO and is at +1000 to win by points or decision. A draw is at +1800.
Unsurprisingly, oddsmakers don’t think this fight will go the distance either, as it’s +280 for the fight to go the distance and -410 to end early.
Lastly, you can combine multiple wagers into a parlay to get longer odds and take a shot at a higher payout. For example, you can bet on a fighter to win and for the match to go over or under a certain number of rounds in the same bet ticket.
