Week 5 of the 2024-25 NFL season features a primetime matchup between two of the biggest franchises in football when the Dallas Cowboys travel to Acrisure Stadium to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 3-1 Steelers are coming off a 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in a game where quarterback Justin Fields (312 passing yards, 55 rushing yards) nearly led Pittsburgh back from a 17-0 deficit.
On the other side, the 2-2 Cowboys are fresh off a 20-15 win over the Giants on Thursday Night Football. While the game featured a late missed field goal that resulted in a bad beat for bettors who took Dallas on the spread, Dak Prescott & Co. did just enough to win against a Giants team that failed to score a touchdown.
This is shaping up to be a massive game for both sides. The Steelers need a win to stay atop the AFC North, will the Cowboys will climb above .500 with a victory.
Based on our research and recent trends, here are the best NFL prop bets to target for Sunday Night Football at our favorite NFL betting sites.
Best Week 5 SNF Props
- Pat Freiermuth Over 3.5 Receptions: Freiermuth has cleared this total in all four of his games this season and is coming off five catches on seven targets against the Colts. The Cowboys allowed four catches to David Njoku in their season opener (the last time they faced a team with a dynamic tight end), so we’re expecting Freiermuth to have a big game.
- CeeDee Lamb Over 6.5 Receptions: Dallas’ offense was dealt a big blow this week with the news that No. 2 wideout Brandin Cooks will miss multiple weeks with a leg injury. Lamb had seven catches last week and should see even more volume this week with Cooks sidelined.
- Justin Fields Over 45.5 Rushing Yards: Fields is coming off his best rushing game of the year (55 yards) and is facing a Cowboys defense that will be without Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. Fields helped lead Pittsburgh’s comeback attempt with his feet last week and should pick up where he left off.
- Cordarrelle Patterson Anytime Touchdown Scorer: After getting only six touches through the Steelers’ first two games, Patterson recorded six carries and two catches last week prior to getting hurt in the first half. If Patterson plays this week, he should be involved around the goal line.
- Calvin Austin Under 16.5 Receiving Yards: Betting the Under on these small totals is always scary since it would only take one or two catches for the Over to hit, but we don’t think Austin will be very involved. He’s only had multiple targets once this year (his 95-yard outburst against the Chargers), and there hasn’t been much volume for any Steelers receiver not named George Pickens. We don’t think Fields will look Austin’s way.
- Dallas Cowboys Over 20.5 Points: The Cowboys have scored at least 19 points in every game this year, so the offense is still potent with Prescott under center. While Pittsburgh has a strong defense, Prescott & Co. seem to be finding their rhythm and are plenty capable of scoring at least three touchdowns.
