Super Bowl 58 Odds and Preview: Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers

This year’s Super Bowl pits the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers against each other in a rematch of Super Bowl 54.

These teams faced off four years ago in the Big Game, with the Chiefs rallying for a 31-20 win thanks to a fourth-quarter comeback engineered by Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs entered this season as championship favorites after winning the Super Bowl last year, but their futures odds dipped during a midseason slump. They recovered in time for the playoffs and have reeled off five straight wins coming into Super Bowl Sunday.

While the Chiefs still have Mahomes under center and Andy Reid on the sideline, their skill position players are lacking compared to previous years. Still, Mahomes is in a class of his own and the Chiefs’ defense is among the NFL’s best.

The 49ers earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 12-5 regular season. Led by second-year quarterback Brock Purdy (who took the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game last season), the Niners have a dynamic offense loaded with playmakers and a strong defense to match.

It hasn’t been easy for the 49ers this postseason, however, as they had to mount second-half comebacks in both of their playoff games despite being at home against weaker opponents.

The 49ers are slight 1.5-point favorites on the spread at DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Chiefs are +100 underdogs on the moneyline. The Over/Under is set at 47.5, which is one of the lower totals in recent Super Bowl memory.
