Who Is Favored To Win The Super Bowl?

As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs are early favorites to win Super Bowl 59.

The Chiefs have won the last two Super Bowls and are looking to become the first team ever to win three in a row. They still have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, Travis Kelce at tight end and Andy Reid calling plays for them on the sideline. They’ve also gotten off to a terrific start and are tied for the best record in the NFL at 11-1.

They’ll have stiff competition from the Baltimore Ravens, however, whom they beat in last year’s AFC Championship Game. Led by two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and star running back Derrick Henry, the Ravens are rolling and could be poised to finally dethrone Kansas City this winter.

Over in the NFC, the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings have been the best teams thus far. The San Francisco 49ers have been decimated by injuries and will be hard-pressed to make it back to the Super Bowl after losing in overtime last year.

Reading Super Bowl odds is fairly straightforward.

Super Bowl odds have either a minus sign or a plus sign. If there’s a minus sign, that shows how much money you’d need to wager to win $100.

For example, if the Detroit Lions are -135 moneyline favorites, you’d need to wager $135 to win $100.

Conversely, plus odds show how much you stand to win on a $100 wager. Plus odds represent underdogs, whereas minus odds represent favorites.

For instance, if the Dallas Cowboys are +110 underdogs on the moneyline, you’d win $135 on a $100 wager.

The larger the number, the bigger the favorite or underdog.

Before the matchup is set, the only way to bet on the Super Bowl is through futures odds. This is a wager on which team will win the Big Game against the field.

Since these bets are riskier and are susceptible to many variables before the game actually starts, most teams will be listed at plus odds.

For example, if the Green Bay Packers are +800 to win the Super Bowl in mid-October, you’d win $800 on a $100 bet if they end up going all the way.
