The Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox take the field Tuesday night for the second game of a four-game mid-week tilt in Anaheim. The Angels eked out a 2-1 victory on Monday thanks to a wild pitch that scored Mike Trout in the 9th inning.
The game was closer than the Angels hoped, and they failed to cover the spread as favorites. However, a win is a win, and LA needs to keep up the pace if they wish to retain the services of Shohei Ohtani past the end of the regular season.
While Trout scored the winning run, Ohtani did his part with his staggering 26th home run. Shotime continues to make a case to be the American League Player of the Month with 11 home runs and 21 RBIs in the last 16 games.
The two-way phenom now leads the MLB with 26 home runs and 62 RBI.
It’s all good in Anaheim as Ohtani is grooving at the plate following a 12-strikeout performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Despite the Dodgers saddling Ohtani with a loss, he pitched seven innings of one-run ball.
Ohtani lowered his ERA to 3.13 following his fantastic performance and looked dominant on the mound for the first time in a couple of weeks. Ohtani’s last outstanding performance came against the Miami Marlins near May’s end.
Regarding the head-to-head matchup with the White Sox, Ohtani has a fantastic .179 batting average against the current Chicago lineup. No player is hitting above .250, nor do they have a single home run or extra-base hit against the superstar.
Ohtani has a winnable pitchers duel on Tuesday, with Michael Kopech taking the mound for Chicago in the second game of this series. The right-hander is 3-6 with a 4.06 ERA and an unsightly 1.29 WHIP in 82 innings of work.
Kopech hasn’t recorded a win since the end of May and is coming off a rough outing in which he allowed three earned runs in just four innings before getting pulled against the Texas Rangers. Kopech also has the same number of walks as he does strikeouts in his previous two games combined (nine).
Best Bet: Angels vs. Rangers
The Angels are in a prime spot to win their second game in a row and go up two games to one against the White Sox on Tuesday. The White Sox are among the worst teams in the league regarding ATS record on the road.
That said, the current moneyline isn’t short enough to warrant a play.
Accordingly, we recommend taking the Angels to cover the spread as favorites at +100 odds. A winning $100 bet would return $100 in profits and your original stake.
Same-Game Parlay
This type of wager allows you to combine two or more bets from the same event into a single play. The advantage is that the odds for the combined wager are higher than betting all plays separately. For more information, check out our same-game parlay overview.
Here’s the trio of MLB prop bets we have chosen for this game:
- Mike Trout Over 0.5 Hits (-175)
- Shohei Ohtani Over 8.5 Strikeouts (+105)
- Shohei Ohtani to Record a Win (+110)
After combining these three bets into a same-game parlay, the odds jump to +577. That would be good for a $577 profit on a $100 winning bet.
The first leg of our same game parlay focuses on the Angels’ other superstar, Mike Trout. The outfielder has positive numbers against Kopech, including two walks and two hits in his previous four at-bats.
Trout owns an OPS of 1.171 against Kopech and is an excellent bet to manage at least one hit on Tuesday night.
Second up is Othani to go over his strikeout total for the second game in a row.
Ohtani’s strikeout numbers began to look pedestrian during his first three starts of the month. Still, the Unicorn rebounded nicely with 12 Ks against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night at home.
The third and final leg of our parlay is for Ohtani to walk away with a favorable decision in the second game of this series.
Despite a fantastic performance last week, Ohtani was saddled with the loss after hurling seven innings of one-run ball. Expecting a more favorable outing from the Angeles offense, back Ohtani to earn his second win in three games.
