UFC heads back to the desert for UFC 310, the last numbered UFC event of the year.

Like previous UFC events, UFC 310 features a stacked fight card. The headliner is a UFC Flyweight Championship bout between Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Asakura in Asakura’s first time fighting as a headliner.

The fight was initially supposed to be headlined by a Welterweight Championship fight between Belal Muhammad and undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov, but Muhummad had to withdraw in October due to a bone infection in his foot.

Now, Rakhmonov will face off against Ian Machado Garry in a 5-round co-main event.

The card also has a noteworthy heavyweight rematch between former interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane and former Bellator Heavyweight World Champion Alexander Volkov, which was initially scheduled for UFC 308 before Volkov suffered a knee injury that forced them to move the fight to UFC 310.

With such a loaded lineup, here’s a breakdown of what to know for the event and how to bet on it at our favorite UFC betting sites.

Alexandre Pantoja (28-5, 8 KO)

The No. 11 ranked fighter in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, Pantoja has been fighting in UFC since 2017 and has held the Flyweight title since 2023. Pantoja earned the title with a split decision victory over Brandon Moreno on July 8, 2023.

He won his first title defense with a unanimous decision victory over Brandon Royval on Dec. 16, 2023 before successfully defending it again at UFC 301 with a unanimous decision win over Steve Erceg at UFC 301.

While he’s the title holder and is riding a six-fight winning streak, he’s not untouchable. He’s a great grappler and is able to take a beating, but he’s a twitchy fighter who isn’t incredibly overpowering.

But he’s also beaten seven of the top flyweight contenders, which is why Dana White and the UFC went out of the box for his next opponent.

Kai Asakura (21-4, 13 KO)

While this is Asakura’s UFC debut, he’ll be getting a title shot on the back of his strong career with Rizin Fighting Federation, Japan’s top MMA promotion.

While this is his first fight in UFC, he already has a career victory over No. 9 ranked UFC flyweight contender Manel Kape and former UFC flyweight title challenger Kyoji Horiguchi.

His last fight came in JUne when he earned the RIZIN bantamweight title by defeating Juan Archuleta, though he did vacate that title when he decided to make the move to UFC.

He’s a powerful puncher who dominated every fighter that he took on in RIZIN, and will be looking to carry that domination on to the UFC.

Pantoja vs. Asakura Prediction

As of this writing, the only market available for this fight at DraftKings Sportsbook is the moneyline. Pantoja is a -238 favorite and Asakura is a +195 underdog, which makes sense considering this is Asakura’s first career UFC fight and Pantoja holds the belt.

While we’re waiting until the full odds come out to make a bigger prediction, we like Asakura to pull off the upset on the moneyline.
